More About Beauty Fest
Shine A Ligh7 joins forces with the Da Beauty League to host a free, family-friendly event to bring awareness to youth mental health at the Braemar Ice Arena in Edina on Wednesday, August 23rd. Along with founder Paul Martin will be fellow NHL hockey players and alums as well as local collegiate hockey players.
Martin’s Four M’s
The event, called Beauty Fest, will honor Martin’s Four M’s – mental health, music, movement, and Minnesota – and will take place from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the Backyard Rink at Braemar Arena. Events will be held in conjunction with Da Beauty League’s John Scott Cup Championship Game on Wednesday, August 23rd.
What to Expect
Family, friends, youth teams, and the like can look forward to music, airbrush tattoos, balloons, shoot-the-puck games, and frozen treats. Concessions will be available inside the arena with food for purchase. Attendees will also have a chance to meet Paul Martin and fellow NHL players and alums along with local collegiate hockey players.
Beauty Fest is free and open to the public, but tickets are required for the games. Fans can purchase tickets at www.dabeautyleague.com/tickets and learn more about Martin and his foundation at www.shinealigh7.org.
Bringing service learning to life
This event also marks the kickoff of our 6th graders’ yearlong service learning project. They are volunteering by facilitating outdoor games for Shine A Ligh7.
The grade level service learning program is a meaningful opportunity for each grade level to connect with a specific charity throughout the school year. Students will complete multiple service projects to help support the mission of their grade’s chosen charity. The yearlong charity relationship will build a deep connection and sense of community. Other grade levels will begin their service projects when school commences.
6th grade families, please be on the lookout for specific details regarding arrival times and drop off location.
