Preparing Young People for Life

Breakaway Academy is a private school open to boys and girls in kindergarten through 8th grade. We offer students a disciplined, focused, supportive environment to reach their potential as a student-athlete. Our research based academic and athletic curriculums have pushed our student athletes to fulfill their potential and accomplish their dreams. Breakaway Academy’s standards and culture create elite daily habits in our student athletes that separate them from their peers.

Superior Academics & Athletics

At Breakaway Academy, we use a curriculum designed in accordance with the Minnesota Department of Education K-12 Academic Standards, with programming that runs in coordination with most public school districts statewide. Our highly trained and qualified teachers and staff consult with parents, students and advisors on a regular basis to ensure all students make strides toward their personal academic goals.

Our hockey-focused athletics program helps students learn valuable life lessons while also improving their performance. In fact, we’ve designed our program to equip students with the tools necessary to enter the most prestigious high schools and universities in the state and country.

When it comes to hockey, we emphasize rigorous daily training exercises that develop six crucial hockey playing skills: skating, puck handling, passing, shooting, positional skills and game concepts. Our innovative athletic curriculum also encourages students to engage in rapid critical-thinking exercises and continuously improve their physical stamina so that they can grow into the best young players possible.

To make this happen, Breakaway Academy’s talented and hard-working coaches and instructors include former professional players and coaches from around the world. They share their experience and expertise with our young athletes each and every day
