3rd Grade Teacher

Bio

I live in Bloomington, MN, with my family of 3 boys and my husband, Brian. I love to be creative, so I spend as much time as I can cooking, writing, reading, taking photos, decorating- anything that lets me dream, plan, and then do! I love being active- I teach and practice yoga, love to run and have fun playing around with my 3 boys. I also run a small photography business and have taken pictures for families and other businesses for about 8 years!

What do you like most about BA?
I love that students spend a lot of time moving, and I love the community that the teachers build both within and between classes.

Why did you get into education?
I love to learn, and I wanted to spark excitement for others about the possibilities that learning brings.

Which coach or teacher had the biggest impact on your life and why?
I had many great ones, but I would choose Mrs. King, my high school distance track and cross country coach. She is caring, funny, motivates her athletes, and is just one of those people whose energy you want to be around.

What is the best advice that you can give students at BA?
To always trust in the possibility of your own potential!

What are your credentials and teaching experience?
I went to college at Hamline University, where I majored in English and Elementary Education and competed in both Cross Country and Track and Field. I’ve taught 7th and 8th grade Language Arts in Minneapolis, Forest Lake, and Global Academy. I took a break from teaching when my kiddos were born and recently stepped back into the classroom this spring at Oak Grove Middle School in Bloomington.
