On-Ice Coach

Bio

I have a Wife, Annie, Daughter, Ellison, and two Dogs – Duke and Bogart the Westies! When I’m not on the ice you can find me on the golf course, tennis court, or at my daughter’s sporting events!

What do you like most about BA?
The values taught about building a student athlete.

Why is it important to have solid academics in addition to good hockey training?
A sport such as hockey may not last a lifetime but having a value base and solid education will.

Which coach or teacher had the biggest impact on your life and why?
John Torchetti during my time with San Antonio. He focused on each player’s strengths.

What is your favorite hockey memory?
Growing up in Richfield, MN, playing on the pond with my buddies, and winning the Bantam A State Championship! Also, being drafted by the Penguins and briefly playing alongside Mario Lemieux.

What are your credentials and hockey experience?
I have been training and coaching for 25 years after a 12 year professional hockey career playing around the world with one Championship in Slovenia. I am part of the coaching staff for the Minneapolis Boys Varsity Team where we made it to the State Tournament in 2021-22 after a 28 year hiatus! I also conduct individual, small group, and team training when not on ice with Breakaway and run a hockey summer school – Shuter’s Xplosive Hockey for players age 5 – 15 at Braemar Arena.
