I live in Eden Prairie with my husband and two kids, Nora(4) and Henrik(2). Together with our kids, we love to explore different trails and parks. Recently, I have enjoyed introducing a few of my passions to my daughter, especially golf, skiing, and ice skating. Henrik will be joining in on the fun soon! We spend a lot of our summer and breaks traveling to Montana and Washington to visit family.
What do you like most about BA?
I appreciate the focus on character. I believe people will remember your character, how you made them feel, and how you built up those around you.
Why did you get into education?
I first completed a degree in finance and worked in that field. Ultimately, it never felt right, and I knew I wanted to work with kids. My mom was a teacher, and I always felt so proud of the difference she made. I have loved teaching!
Which coach or teacher had the biggest impact on your life and why?
I’ll never forget my kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Haarsgaurd. She loved me for who I was and made me feel comfortable, confident, and proud. Every student deserves a teacher just like her.
What is the best advice you can give students at BA?
This school is providing an opportunity to focus on hockey, education, and character. Please take what you’re learning and commit to it. Be the hardest worker both on the ice and in the classroom and the kind of teammate, friend, and student people gravitate towards for the right reasons.
What are your credentials and teaching experience?
I first majored in finance and international business. I then returned to school to pursue my Master’s in Education. While in school, I coached the Missoula Girls Varsity Hockey Team. After completing my Master’s degree, I taught 5th grade for 5 years in Missoula, Montana.
