Sartor, Matt
5th Grade Science Teacher, 7th Grade Skills Teacher, & On-Ice Coach

Bio

I live in Savage, MN, with my wife Megan and kids, Tiffany and Brayden. I enjoy family time, camping, working out, and watching hockey.

What do you like most about BA?
What I like most about BA are the students! Breakaway provides such a unique experience for student-athletes. I am also fortunate to work each day with on-ice coaches, off-ice coaches, and teachers.

Why did you get into education?
I struggled at times in school as a kid and always remembered the people that helped me overcome obstacles and become a better all-around student-athlete. I want to be that person for kids in the next generation.

Which coach or teacher had the biggest impact on your life and why?
Todd Kennedy. He was my high school hockey coach, teacher, friend, and mentor. TK took me under his wing in so many ways on the ice, classroom, and life. I later served as an assistant coach on his staff, and he and I remain very close. He is my Son’s God Father.

What is the best advice you can give students at BA?
Every BA staff member wants each student to thrive and experience success. Don’t hesitate to embrace that.
