Meland, Max
3rd Grade Teacher and 6th & 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher

Bio

I currently live in Golden Valley, MN. I have a younger brother and sister. In my free time, I love to be active, especially enjoying the outdoors. You can likely find me fishing, hunting, or training CrossFit when I am not in the classroom. I am also a huge Minnesota sports fan!

What do you like most about BA?
I love being able to be in school every day and getting to see all of my students. The small class sizes are great for building a strong learning community and better supporting individual students. I strongly believe in the correlation between being active and having strong academic performance.

Why did you get into education?
I have always had a passion for working with children. For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a teacher.

Which coach or teacher had the biggest impact on your life and why?
My fifth-grade teacher made the biggest impact on me because she was the first teacher that I could tell really believed in me. I hope that I can have a similar impact on my students.

What is the best advice you can give students at BA?
You need to believe in yourself and choose to be great each day!

What are your credentials and teaching experience?
This is my third year teaching at Breakaway Academy. My first two years were spent teaching second and third grade. This year I will be teaching third grade along with sixth and eighth grade social studies.
